Tax File Number
In Australia all employees must have a Tax file number (TFN), which is an Australian Government requirement. Failure to obtain one, can lead to the employee being taxed at a much higher marginal rate. To apply for a Tax file number simply go to the Australian Taxation office web site www.ato.gov.au.
Superannuation
As an employee in Australia, your employer contributes an additional 9% loading on your gross wages and deposits this additional loading to your superannuation fund. Banking Details
Australia banking facilities are well organised and structured, with you having 24 hours a day 7 days a week access via Electronic (EFTpos) and Automatic Teller machine (ATM) services. To open a bank account in Australia, you will need to provide identification, primarily a passport and/or drivers licence plus one other form of identification. The four large banks in Australia are ANZ (Australia New Zealand), CBA (Commonwealth Bank of Australia), NAB (National Bank of Australia) and Westpac. Along with these, other banking institutions are also available.
